Man of the Year Tom Hiddleston up for the next Bond

Tom Hiddleston seems to be getting into the whole espionage thing with his miniseries “The Night Manager” with co-star Hugh Laurie (House M.D.). The show premiered early this year.  This role initiated speculations that Hiddleston might be considered for the role of the next James Bond to replace Daniel Craig as Agent 007.

So far, we know that he is included in the competition for the role. There are even some who think Divergent’s Shailen Wooley could snatch the role as the first female Bond.

According to some reports, the Bond producers are not really in a hurry to find Craig´s successor, at least not until they end their contract with Sony Pictures. Also, to this day, there is a list of at least seven top candidates to play the role, with Hiddleston included.

But what does Hiddleston say about it?  Well, he would be happy to play the role, of course.  He stated, “I simply love the theme tune, the tropes, and the mythology. I love the whole thing.  If it ever came knocking, it would be an extraordinary opportunity. I’m very aware of the physicality of the job. I would not take it lightly.”

In more recent news, the 35-year-old Man of the Year is also seeking the role by becoming America´s sweetheart Taylor Swift’s significant other. This took everyone completely by surprise.  According to an insider "Bond needs an air of mystery - his public romance with Taylor has made him totally uncastable."

But then, it is this romance that made Hiddleston´s popularity rocket in the past weeks. In fact, some even say that Swift is pulling strings to help her boyfriend get the role.  Either way, there is no doubt that Hiddleston is more than willing to play the part.
